I grew up in the Forest of Dean where giant oak trees became timber for great ships including Nelson's Victory. I have always had a deep love and respect for the natural world and I was steered towards the Sciences at school. I subsequently went into research and then found my vocation in teaching. I don't know why, but I also always had a deep-seated desire to one day live by the sea: to freely walk the headlands and the beaches, dabble in rock pools; spend time on and in the water and to photograph and paint all that I see. Three years ago this dream became a reality.
